Information & Rules

Border Run was founded by an open show exhibitor, for open show exhibitors — with the original goal of helping avoid overlapping show dates and providing a well-paced, exhibitor-friendly schedule throughout the season. As we’ve grown, it’s become more challenging to prevent all overlap, especially with the increasing number of events across regions.

While we are not here to police shows, we remain committed to doing what is within our power to benefit both exhibitors and show managers. Our focus is always on creating a positive, rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Border Run is a free program designed to reward exhibitors for participating in the shows they were already planning to attend. It's a unique offering — we’re not aware of any other program like it where exhibitors can earn recognition and awards without having to pay a participation fee.

We’re proud of what Border Run has become, and we’re grateful to be part of your journey in the open show community.

The show season for the Border Run is January 1 - December 31 of the current calendar year.

Rules

Show Record Form

The Show Record form is the responsibility of the exhibitor. The exhibitor is to track and record their results at the show and have record verified and signed by a show representative the day of the horse show. The show representative will assist you in confirming placings and number of horses shown in the class. These numbers will be checked if we see something off. The show record MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY. We need all information filled in on the form for multiple reasons. Records that are not completed fully will be denied and will need to be resubmitted in completion. You have 30 days to turn in your record to our points secretary. Below you will find the link and an example of a completed form.

Exhibitor & Horse Registration

To help keep Border Run records accurate and reduce repetitive data entry, we use one-time registration for both exhibitors and horses.

Registering creates a lifetime ID that allows us to:

accurately track points,
reduce errors,
and streamline show record submissions and year-end reporting.

This system helps ensure fairness, consistency, and efficiency for everyone involved.

Exhibitor Registration

Exhibitor Registration creates your lifetime Exhibitor ID.

Complete once only
Your Exhibitor ID will be emailed to you
This ID is required for all Border Run points submissions

Please register as an exhibitor before submitting show records for points.

Horse Registration

Horse Registration creates a lifetime Horse ID for each horse.

Complete once per horse
Horse IDs are emailed upon submission
Horse IDs are required for all points submissions

Horses only need to be registered once, even if they are shown by different riders over time.

Why Registration Matters

Using unique lifetime IDs allows Border Run to:

prevent duplicate or mismatched records,
reduce manual corrections and audits,
ensure accurate points totals and eligibility,
and keep long-term records consistent year to year.

This system protects the integrity of the program while making submissions easier for exhibitors.

Need to Update Information?

If exhibitor information changes, please use the appropriate Update Form.
Please do not submit a new registration for updates.

Exhibitor contact information may be updated as needed throughout the season.

If your email address, mailing address, or phone number changes, please submit an update using the Exhibitor Information Update Form.

Updates apply to exhibitor records only

Horse registrations generally do not require updates. If a horse-related issue needs correction, please contact Border Run directly.

The Border Run Founders have the right to amend the rules when a situation such as a pandemic that was experienced in 2020 occurs and will make the best decision they see fit to be in the best interest of the exhibitors once the season has concluded.
