The Round Up

Advertising & Photo Submission Guide

The Round Up Year-End Magazine is a professionally printed publication celebrating Border Run exhibitors, horses, and sponsors. To ensure your ad or photo prints clearly and looks its best, please follow the simple guidelines below.

You do not need to be a graphic designer to submit — but if you are working with one, you can share this page directly with them.

Important Dates
  • All ads, photos, and content due: January 30

  • Ad design services available: January 30

Late or incomplete submissions may not be guaranteed placement.

Advertising Submissions

What to Send

  • A finished ad file from your graphic designer OR

  • Your logo, photos, and text if you are using Border Run’s design services

Best File Types

  • PDF (best)

  • High-quality JPG or PNG (acceptable)

Ad Sizes

Please tell your designer which size you purchased:

  • Full Page Ad: 8.75 × 11.25 inches
    (Includes bleed)

  • Half Page Ad (horizontal): 8.5 × 5.5 inches
    (Bleed not required)

  • Quarter Page Ad: 3.75 × 5 inches
    (Bleed not required)

  • Business Card: 3 inches wide x 2.5 inches tall

Bleed is only required for full-page ads. Half-page and quarter-page ads do not need bleed.

(Full-page ads should extend slightly past the edge so nothing gets trimmed off during printing.)

What to Tell Your Graphic Designer

You can copy and paste this:

“This ad is for a professionally printed magazine. Please design at the exact size listed, include bleed for full-page ads, use CMYK color, and export as a print-ready PDF with fonts embedded.”

That’s it.

No extra tech talk required.

Photo Submissions (For Award & Editorial Use)

Print magazines require higher-quality photos than social media in order to reproduce clearly in print. These photo guidelines apply to award features, exhibitor highlights, and editorial content within the Round Up Year-End Magazine.

Please submit:

  • Original photo files (directly from the photographer or camera)

  • Minimum size: approximately 2000 pixels or larger

  • Clear, well-lit images

Please do not submit:

  • Screenshots

  • Facebook or Instagram downloads

  • Watermarked proof images

Photos that are too small, blurry, or compressed may not be usable in print.

Names & Accuracy

Please double-check all rider, horse, farm, and business names before submitting.

Names will be printed exactly as provided.

Design Help Available

Professional ad design services are available via Melissa Baus deadline January 30.

Border Run exhibitors get a special rate of $150.

Final Notes

Border Run reserves the right to make small adjustments for layout and print quality. Our goal is to make sure every ad and photo looks professional in the final magazine.
